Super Sunday results

Here are the results of the Super Sunday Premier League games:
Liverpool 0-0 Everton.

Sylvain Distin had a goal disallowed as Everton were denied a first league win over Liverpool at Anfield since 1999 in a fiercely contested Merseyside derby.
After a frenetic first half low on goalmouth drama, Distin thought he had broken the deadlock when he headed home a Leighton Baines corner, but referee Michael Oliver ruled that Victor Anichebe had impeded goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Liverpool, who had earlier gone close through Daniel Sturridge, responded to the let-off with a spell of sustained pressure in which captain Steven Gerrard had an effort cleared off the line by 35-year-old defender Distin. The draw leaves Everton in sixth place, five points behind Tottenham, who are occupying the Europa League qualifying place, with two games left for Moyes's team and three for Spurs.

Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea.

A deflected Juan Mata strike gave Chelsea a victory at a lacklustre Manchester United which lifts the Blues up to third in the Premier League.
Earlier, Oscar's shot for the visitors was palmed on to the post by keeper Anders Lindegaard before United's Robin van Persie glanced a shot just wide.
The match appeared to be petering out when Mata's 87th minute shot went in off Phil Jones and the post.
Moments later, United's Rafael was sent off for kicking David Luiz.
The Brazilian defender was seen smiling on the ground after Rafael's crude challenge as the game ended in the kind of fiery intensity the match had largely lacked.

Premier League results

These are the results of the Premier League matches that were played on the 4th May:
Fulham 2-4 Reading.

Reading boss Nigel Adkins tasted a first win in charge of the Royals as his relegated side beat Fulham.
Hal Robson-Kanu scored from the spot after being fouled by John Arne Riise to put the Royals ahead and added a second with a left-foot curler.
Bryan Ruiz pulled one back for Fulham but Adam Le Fondre's close-range effort added a third for Reading. A Ruiz header gave the visitors another scare but Jem Karacan's late strike secured a Royals win.

Norwich 1-2 Aston Villa.

Gabriel Agbonlahor scored a last-minute winner as Aston Villa took a giant stride towards safety with a win that increases Norwich's relegation fears.
Villa took the lead when Agbonlahor drilled a 25-yard shot into the corner.
Grant Holt drew Norwich level from the penalty spot after Robert Snodgrass had been brought down by Joe Bennett.
But Agbonlahor calmly finished off Ashley Westwood's pass to move Villa five points clear of the drop zone, with Norwich two behind.

Swansea 0-0 Manchester City.

Manchester City have still to score at the Liberty Stadium after this tame goalless draw with Swansea.
They had the better of the chances, with substitute Edin Dzeko missing an open goal with five minutes remaining.
But Roberto Mancini's FA Cup finalists, who go seven points ahead of Chelsea in the league, could not find a way past Michel Vorm in a low-key encounter.

Tottenham 1-0 Southampton.

Gareth Bale produced another moment of magic to keep Tottenham on course for next season's Champions League and leave his former club Southampton still uncertain of Premier League survival.
With four minutes left, the PFA Player of the Year darted infield and, from 25 yards, crashed a rasping shot beyond Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
The result was cruel on Southampton, who created many of the best chances.
Rickie Lambert came closest, striking the post with a first-half free-kick.
But ultimately this was a game decided by one swing of Bale's left boot, a special strike that resulted in his fourth goal in his last five league appearances, as Tottenham legends Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles watched from the stands.

West Brom 2-3 Wigan.

Callum McManaman's late winner gave Wigan Athletic a vital victory at West Bromwich Albion and kept their hopes of making another dramatic late escape from relegation alive.
Wigan - who started the day five points adrift of safety with a game in hand - trailed twice at The Hawthorns but maintained their nerve and composure to close the gap on Sunderland and Newcastle United.
Shane Long put West Brom ahead but Arouna Kone headed Wigan level before the interval. Gareth McAuley restored the Baggies' lead but Wigan were back on terms again when James McArthur headed in moments after coming on as substitute.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez knew only three points would suffice as his side battle once more to avoid the drop into the Championship - and the decisive goal came 10 minutes from time when the outstanding Shaun Maloney set up McManaman from close range.
They survived a scare deep into five minutes of injury time when McArthur headed off the line from McAuley but it was not long before Wigan's fans were celebrating.

West Ham 0-0 Newcastle.

Newcastle's Premier League status remains in the balance after they shared a goalless draw with West Ham.
The Hammers put Alan Pardew's side under pressure in the second half but Papiss Cisse came closest to scoring when his first-half shot was cleared off the line by Winston Reid.
Replays were inconclusive but Rob Elliot made a double save to deny Kevin Nolan, while Andy Carroll headed wide.
Newcastle are three points above third-bottom Wigan after they beat West Brom.

QPR 0-1 Arsenal.

Theo Walcott scored the fastest Premier League goal of the season to sink QPR and send Arsenal into third place.
Walcott struck after 20 seconds, latching on to Mikel Arteta's deft pass and firing past Rob Green.
Arsenal dominated the early stages and went close to doubling their lead when Green clawed a low Walcott snap-shot on to his post.
QPR improved after the break but the closest they came to a reply was when Wojciech Szczesny denied Loic Remy.
Walcott's goal provided Arsene Wenger's side with an ideal start and was also the perfect riposte to Tottenham's win over Southampton earlier on Saturday. That had seen the Gunners temporarily drop to fifth place, a point behind Spurs and Chelsea who both have games in hand.

La Liga news

Iniesta: Bayern Munich defeat will help Barcelona to develop and improve.

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta warns that his side must learn from their mistakes against Bayern Munich as they aim to challenge for the Champions League again next year. The Catalans were beaten 7-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals of European club football's elite competition but the Spain international is hopeful that the defeat will benefit Barca in the long term.
"This defeat needs to teach us how to learn from our mistakes. We've seen that there have been some [mistakes] during these two matches," Iniesta told Uefa.com.  "But defeats, if you use them well, are how to improve for the future. Next year we'll be back trying to win this tournament again.

Mourinho exit to spark Real Madrid clearout.

When the outspoken coach finally leaves for Chelsea in the summer, he is likely to be followed by out of the Santiago Bernabeu by five high-profile players, all of whom have close links to him personally or his agent Jorge Mendes.  Following his "maybe not" comment this week when asked about staying on for another season, it is now a given in Real Madrid circles that Mourinho will leave the club at the end of the season. His relationship with heavyweights in the dressing room has deteriorated to the extent that they would be unlikely to be able to work together for another season in any case. As a result, Mourinho is expected to announce his departure in the next few weeks and Madrid are already looking for another coach, with Carlo Ancelotti the leading candidate.

Serie A news

El Shaarawy plans Milan stay.

Stephan El Shaarawy wants to remain at Milan for the rest of his playing career amid reported interest from other sides.
The Italy international, contracted to Milan until 2018, has reportedly courted interest from Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.
But on Monday Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani insisted that the club have no intention of selling one of their prize assets.
"I am feeling very good at Milan and I hope to stay here for the rest of my life," El Shaarawy told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I heard what Galliani said about me and it pleases me that the club do not want to sell me."
Galliani confirmed the seven-time European champions had not received any offers for the players.

Roma reject Marquinhos reports.

Roma have released a statement which conflicts with reports they are in talks with in-demand defender Marquinhos over a new contract.
The 18-year-old Brazilian has displayed maturity beyond his years by establishing himself as a regular for Roma this season, making 26 appearances since switching from Corinthians.
Consequently, rumours of Barcelona interest in the youngster were rife, as were reports that Roma were in the process of tying him to a new, long-term deal.
But the Italian giants took the unusual step of issuing a statement about a player's contract in a bid to stop the speculation.

Europa League results

These are the results of the Europa League semi-final second legs:
Benfica 3-1 Fenerbache.

Oscar Cardozo scored twice as Benfica dramatically overcame Fenerbahce in Lisbon to set up a Europa League final against Chelsea.
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Benfica levelled the tie when Nicolas Gaitan stabbed in the opener.
Fenerbahce restored their overall lead through Dirk Kuyt's penalty, which left Benfica needing to score two goals. But Cardozo fired in after a quick free-kick and then clinically lashed in the decisive goal from close range.Benfica meet Chelsea, who beat Basel in the other semi-final, in the final in Amsterdam on 15 May.
However, despite a dominant performance it was far from comfortable for the Portuguese side, as the tie remained dramatically poised right until the final whistle.

Chelsea 3-1 FC Basel.

Chelsea secured their place in the Europa League final against Benfica with an ultimately comfortable win over FC Basel at Stamford Bridge.
The Swiss side, attempting to reverse a 2-1 deficit from the first leg of their semi-final, gave Chelsea brief moments of anxiety, especially when Mohamed Salah gave them the lead on the night just before half-time.
But Fernando Torres put Chelsea back on track with his 20th goal of the season just after half-time and Victor Moses removed any remaining doubts with a second two minutes later.
David Luiz, Chelsea's match-winner in Basel, then produced the sort of spectacular 25-yard strike that is fast becoming his trademark to add gloss to an evening of celebration at Stamford Bridge.
Benitez, who claimed this trophy in its guise as the Uefa Cup with Valencia in 2004, was able to put aside the continuing speculation about the possible return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge by adding to his own reputation as a European specialist.

Uefa Champions League results

These are the results of the Uefa Champions League semi-final second legs:
Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund (Agg. 3-4)

Borussia Dortmund survived a frantic finish at the Bernabeu to reach the Champions League final despite two late goals by Real Madrid.
Real, trailing 4-1 from the first leg, needed to score three times without reply to progress but wasted a series of early chances in an open game.
Karim Benzema gave Real hope from close range in the 82nd minute and Sergio Ramos scored a second soon after.
Ramos also headed wide in injury time but Dortmund held on.
Such a thrilling ending to the tie had seemed unlikely after the first leg at the Westfalenstadion and also for long spells in Spain, but Real will feel real frustration at their exit because of the sheer number of chances they squandered.Dortmund also had several openings and could have put things beyond doubt when Robert Lewandowski fired against the bar in the second half.
Instead they were left hanging on before securing their date at Wembley on 25 May, where they will play either Barcelona or, as appears likely, German rivals Bayern Munich.

Barcelona 0-3 Bayern Munich (Agg. 0-7)

Bayern Munich pulled off a stunning 3-0 victory over Barcelona at the Nou Camp to complete a record Champions League semi-final aggregate win.
Arjen Robben opened the scoring shortly after half-time when he cut in from the right and found the top corner.
Gerard Pique turned Franck Ribery's cross into his own net before Thomas Mueller headed in at the far post to complete the 7-0 aggregate rout.
Bayern now meet fellow German side Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on 25 May.
Jupp Heynckes' side were beaten by Chelsea in last season's Champions League final but, on the evidence of their two performances against the Catalan giants, it will take an almighty effort from Dortmund to prevent them winning their fifth European Cup.
Barcelona, who left injured talismanic playmaker Lionel Messi on the bench, were once again outplayed by the brilliant Bavarians.first-leg demolition shook Europe, their second-leg dominance should ensure even bigger reverberations - such was the magnitude of their dominance in the Nou Camp.
And if Bayern's
From Mario Mandzukic's selfless work as the lone striker, to the slick pass-and-move skills of those behind him, the visitors outplayed Tito Vilanova's side.
