Confederations Cup

Here are the results of the Confederations Cup semi-final:

Spain 0-0 Italy (AET).

Favourites Spain will face Brazil in the Confederations Cup final after a dramatic 7-6 penalty shoot-out victory against Italy in Fortaleza.
Spain substitute Jesus Navas drilled in the decisive penalty after Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci missed.
Italy dominated much of the 90 minutes but were left to pay for their misses.

How the shoot-out unfolded

Leonardo Bonucci
  • Spain 0-1 Italy - Candreva
  • Spain 1-1 Italy - Xavi
  • Spain 1-2 Italy - Aquilani
  • Spain 2-2 Italy - Iniesta
  • Spain 2-3 Italy - De Rossi
  • Spain 3-3 Italy - Pique
  • Spain 3-4 Italy - Giovinco
  • Spain 4-4 Italy - Ramos
  • Spain 4-5 Italy - Pirlo
  • Spain 5-5 Italy - Mata
  • Spain 5-6 Italy - Montolivo
  • Spain 6-6 Italy - Busquets
  • Spain 6-6 Italy - Bonucci MISSES
  • Spain 7-6 Italy - Navas
Emanuele Giaccherini hit the Spain post in extra-time, while Gianluigi Buffon pushed Xavi's shot on to the woodwork.
Each of the first 12 penalties were converted in a high-quality shoot-out before Bonucci blasted his effort over Iker Casillas's crossbar.
His miss allowed new Manchester City winger Navas to coolly convert past Buffon to set up an eagerly anticipated clash against the host nation, 2-1 winners against Uruguay in their semi-final, in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
But the complexion of the match would have been totally different had Italy, without injured striker Mario Balotelli, not squandered a host of goalscoring chances.
The Azzurri dominated a high-tempo first half as the tactical instructions of boss Cesare Prandelli - to stay tight and compact defensively before breaking quickly down the Spanish flanks - were carried out to perfection.
Spain, who beat their opponents 4-0 in the Euro 2012 final, looked vulnerable as they failed to cope with the Italian raids, but were left unpunished.

Isco makes move to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Malaga to sign Isco on a five-year deal, for a reported fee of £23m.
Manchester City were also pursuing the midfielder, 21, with new manager Manuel Pellegrini hoping to lure him to England having been his boss at Malaga.
Isco, who recently won the Under-21 European Championship with Spain, is due to have a medical on 3 July before being presented at the Bernabeu.
He becomes new Real manager Carlo Ancelotti's first signing.
Isco was signed by Pellegrini from Valencia in 2011 and had suggested he wanted to play under him again next season, calling his former boss a "footballing father".
The playmaker signed a new contract with Malaga at the beginning of the year, which included a £30m buy-out clause.
Asked about Isco at a news conference on Wednesday, Ancelotti said: "From what I have seen of him, it's clear he has a lot of quality.
"Spain's Under-21 side has a lot of great players and he is one of the best. He could get into any team in the world, so he could also play for Madrid."
Isco - real name Francisco Roman Alarcon - scored three goals in five games as Spain triumphed at Euro 2013 in Israel, but also made his senior international debut against Uruguay in February.

Tevez signs for Juventus.

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has completed his £12m move to Italian champions Juventus.
City and Juve agreed a deal of £10m that could rise by £2m with add-ons.

Tevez's City troubles

27 September, 2011: City lose 2-0 to Bayern Munich with Tevez accused of refusing to warm up to go on as substitute
27 September: Roberto Mancini says Tevez is finished with Manchester City
28 October: Fined two weeks' wages for breach of contract related to Bayern game (£400,000)
7 November: Tevez flies to Argentina without the club's permission
22 December: City charge Tevez with gross misconduct for his actions since 7 November. (Six weeks' fine: £1.2m). Given until 7 January to appeal
11 January, 2012: Appeal heard by directors and dismissed
3 February: Mancini admits Tevez could play again
14 February: Tevez returns from Argentina
21 March: Tevez returns for City as substitute in the 2-1 win against Chelsea

The Argentina international, 29, arrived in Italy on Wednesday for a medical and signed a three-year contract.
When the fee is combined with wages and bonuses due to Tevez in the final year of his contract, City could save about £27m.
The two clubs reached an agreement at a meeting in London on Tuesday.
Hundreds of Juventus fans turned up at Milan's Malpensa airport to welcome the player.
Juve announced his arrival with a picture of him alongside club president Andrea Agnelli  holding up the number 10 jersey.
Tevez signed a five-year contract when he joined the Sky Blues in 2009 after previously playing for Manchester United.
City paid his advisors - who owned his contract - a reported £25.5m fee, although some have claimed the figure was £47m.
He has made 148 appearances for the club, scoring 74 goals, but the relationship with former manager Roberto Mancini soured in 2011 when he was fined and suspended following an incident in a Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
City must now search for a replacement but have said they will not pay the £53m asking price for Napoli forward Edinson Cavani.

Confederations Cup

Here is the result of the semi final in the Confederations Cup:

Brazil 2-1 Uruguay.

Brazil scraped into the final of the Confederations Cup with victory in an emotional and highly-charged encounter at the Estadio Mineirao.
Paulinho's late header ensured the Selecao finally saw off a resilient Uruguay to set up a clash with Spain or Italy in the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
Fred had given Brazil a scarcely-deserved first-half lead, prodding home Neymar's cross. But Uruguay hit back shortly after the interval when Edinson Cavani capitalised on an error from Brazil captain Thiago Silva to strike a low shot beyond Julio Cesar.
Home goalkeeper Cesar had earlier saved Diego Forlan's first-half penalty, after David Luiz pulled down Uruguay captain Diego Lugano.
This was a test of character and spirit for Luiz Felipe Scolari's Brazil but the jubilation among the players and coaching staff at the final whistle showed just how much this meant. Brazil never approached their fluent best but they did just enough to get over the line.
The build-up had been every bit as passionate and spiky as the game itself. Cesar had described the rivalry between the nations as more intense than that of Brazil's with Argentina, while Uruguay captain Diego Lugano had accused Neymar of attempting to fool referees by diving.

Confederations Cup

Here are the results of the Confederations Cup games that were played in Group B:

Nigeria 0-3 Spain.

Spain will face Italy in the Confederations Cup semi-finals after they beat Nigeria to top Group B.
Jordi Alba scored twice, stroking in following a flowing move early on and then rounding Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama with two minutes left.
Nigeria caused problems for Spain's defence in between with John Mikel Obi and Sunday Mba going close.
Fernando Torres headed in two minutes after coming on as a substitute, before Alba sealed it to knock Nigeria out.
The goal from Chelsea striker Torres took the heat out of the contest, but despite Spain's superiority in possession, Nigeria were let down again by poor finishing when substitute Gambo Muhammad squirmed the ball wide with 15 minutes left.
He was set up by the impressive Ahmed Musa, who also created a great opportunity for Brown Ideye, but the striker's touch let him down in front of an open goal.
And although coach Stephen Keshi's Super Eagles bow out of the tournament with a solitary victory over Tahiti to finish third in Group B behind Uruguay, there were signs of encouragement for his young side.
Had they converted their chances the story of this game might have been different, but there was a sense that Spain still had another gear to move into if they needed it.

Uruguay 8-0 Tahiti.

Abel Hernandez scored a first-half hat-trick as Uruguay booked a place in the Confederations Cup semi-finals with a comprehensive win over Tahiti.
The striker scored a header and finished a Nicolas Lodeiro pass before Diego Perez and Hernandez made it four.

Suarez's worthwhile cameo

Luis Suarez came off the bench to score twice, moving him above Diego Forlan to become Uruguay's all-time leading goal-scorer with 35.

Andres Scotti's penalty was saved before the Uruguayan and Tahiti's Teheivarii Ludivion were sent off.
Lodeiro scored a fifth and Hernandez converted from the spot before substitute Luis Suarez added two more.
Oscar Tabarez's team will now face hosts Brazil in the last four on Wednesday.
Uruguay knew that a point would probably be enough to progress and Tabarez was confident enough to make 11 changes with the last four in mind.
That included leaving out Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan out of the starting line-up but Palermo's Hernandez, who had only scored three international goals before the match, provided plenty of cutting edge.
The amateurs of Tahiti have won plenty of praise for their efforts in Brazil and there were positives for them to take away from Recife, with striker Steevy Chong-Hue impressing and debutant Gilbert Meriel being able to celebrate his penalty save from Scotti.
But their prospects of claiming any more than flashes of pride were over after just one minute and 19 seconds, when Hernandez scored the quickest goal in the history of the competition.

So, after that this is how Group B looks at the end of the group stages:

Witsel's keen on move to PSG.

Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel admits a move to Paris Saint-Germain would be impossible to turn down, after being linked with the Ligue 1 champions.
The Belgium international has been linked with PSG - with reports in France suggesting the Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi could move the other way in part-exchange.
"For now my mind is 100 per cent focused on Zenit," Witsel told Belgian daily Sudinfo.
"PSG are one of the clubs who no player could be indifferent to. You could not refuse that."
Laurent Blanc is set to replace Carlo Ancelotti as PSG coach and Witsel is in the dark as to whether the former Bordeaux and France coach would be interested in signing him.

AC Milan rule out Tevez raid.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claims the Italian outfit have no plans to make a move for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.
Galliani had hinted in the past that the Argentine frontman would be of interest to the Rossoneri.
He was quick to point out that players would need to be moved on first in order to free up funds, and maintains that is still the case if Milan are to add to their ranks.
It is, however, unlikely that Tevez will be targeted if sales are sanctioned - ruling out the prospect of him being reunited with former City team-mate Mario Balotelli at the San Siro.
"Tevez is not a transfer target for us," said Galliani.
"Before we will try to bring in new players, we will have to sell some of our own players first.
"It's not a financial problem, but has to do with the amount of attackers we already have. At the moment, we already have seven players for just three positions.

Confederations Cup

Here are the results of the two games that were played in Group A:

Brazil 4-2 Italy.

Neymar proved the inspiration once again as Brazil gave themselves the best chance of avoiding a semi-final with Spain by topping Group A with a dramatic victory over Italy in Salvador.
The 21-year-old lit up the Arena Fonte Nova with a spectacular second-half free-kick while striker Fred scored twice to set the Selecao on their way to a third straight win in the Confederations Cup.
Substitute Dante had prodded in to give Brazil the lead on the stroke of half-time, only for Emanuele Giaccherini to bring Italy level with a fierce shot early in the second half.
Neymar then produced his moment of magic, before Fred appeared to put the game beyond Italy with 23 minutes remaining.
Italy, however, came roaring back with a controversial and scrappy goal from Giorgio Chiellini. The Azzurri had the better of the final quarter of the match but Brazil made certain late on when Fred pounced as Gianluigi Buffon failed to hold Marcelo's shot to send the stadium into raptures.
The result means Brazil are likely to meet Uruguay in a semi-final in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday. Italy face the prospect of a last four meeting with world champions Spain in Fortaleza, 24 hours later.
Much too had been made of the battle between two of the world's most gifted young players in Neymar and Mario Balotelli. Both were forced to ride some fierce, physical challenges throughout the game but underlined their immense talent with outstanding displays at either end.

Japan 1-2 Mexico.

Two second-half headers by Javier Hernandez saw Mexico depart the Confederations Cup on a winning note as Japan finished bottom of Group A.
Andres Guardado, who headed against the woodwork, provided the cross which saw Hernandez open the scoring after a fine run by the Manchester United man.
Both teams were already eliminated, but Mexico sealed the win when Hernandez scored from Giovani Dos Santos' corner.
Shinji Okazaki scored a consolation before Hernandez missed a late penalty.
Hernandez was hauled down by substitute Atsuto Uchida before the 25-year-old got to his feet to take the spot-kick which was kept out by Eiji Kawashima.
In a dramatic finale, the ball rebounded back to Hernandez who missed out on a hat-trick by blazing his second attempt against the bar.
However, the miss did not prove costly as Mexico finished third behind Brazil and Italy in the four-team group.

So after that game this is how Group A looks at the end of the group stages.

Higuain transfer talks ongoing.

Arsenal are still in talks over capturing Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid, with Juventus also chasing his signature, according to his father.
The Gunners have been considered as front-runners for the Argentine striker since it emerged that he could be tempted into a move away from the Spanish capital.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have been given the green light to bring established names to Emirates Stadium this summer, with Manchester United's Wayne Rooney also linked to Arsenal.
However, Juventus are rivalling the North London club in the race to sign 25-year-old Higuain, who scored 16 goals in 28 La Liga appearances last season.
According to speculation, Higuain had agreed personal terms with Arsenal but his father, Jorge Higuain, has indicated that his son could also still move to Juventus.
"Nothing has been signed yet but I can assure you there are advanced talks between the clubs," said Higuain senior in the Mail on Sunday.

Mertens passses Napoli medical.

Napoli have confirmed Dries Mertens has successfully passed a medical as the PSV Eindhoven winger's move nears completion.
Mertens is set to become Rafa Benitez's first signing as Napoli coach after a fee reportedly in the region of €9.5million (£8.1m) was agreed with PSV.
The Belgium international is expected to sign a five-year contract and Napoli confirmed there were no problems with Mertens' medical tests.
A club statement read: "Dries Mertens has undergone his medical for Napoli this morning.
"The medical had a positive result."

Marchisio is not for sale.

Juventus general manager Guiseppe Marotta says that midfielder Claudio Marchisio is not for sale, after reports of interest from Manchester United.
Speculation has linked the 27-year old with a switch to Old Trafford in recent weeks as David Moyes looks to bolster his midfield, with the retirement of Paul Scholes and uncertainty over Darren Fletcher's long-term future due to illness leaving him with limited options.
Marchisio has spent his whole career with the Serie A champions, but the Italian has already admitted that he would be "very proud" if United did make an offer for him.
The midfielder is currently away with the Italy national team at the Confederations Cup, where his side have already reached the semi-finals after two opening group stage wins.
Marotta remains hopeful of keeping hold of Marchisio, who is under contract in Turin until 2017, and he says they will do their best to ensure that he stays.

Paulinho set for Spurs switch.

Corinthians have confirmed that negotiations are gathering pace with Tottenham regarding the transfer of Paulinho.
The Brazil international, who is currently impressing in the Confederations Cup, has long been linked with a move to Europe with Tottenham among the clubs interested.
Spurs were yet to have firmed up their interest as recently as last week, but reports now suggest that a £17million bid for the midfielder has been accepted.
Corinthians director of football Edu - a former Arsenal player - has confirmed that there have been further developments and a move to London now looks likely.
When asked about the interest from the White Hart Lane club, Edu told UOL: "The situation is well underway.

Liverpool agree fee for Mignolet.

Liverpool have agreed a fee in excess of £11m with Sunderland for goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, according to Sky sources.
The two clubs are understood to have reached an agreement after protracted discussions and the Belgium international could now undergo a medical and discuss personal terms next week.
Mignolet, who moved to the Stadium of Light from Belgian side Sint-Truiden three years ago for £2m, still has two years remaining on his contract but Sunderland appear to have found it too hard to resist Liverpool's overtures.
A deal will increase speculation over the future of the Reds' established No 1, Pepe Reina.
The Spaniard has been linked with a summer return to Barcelona but has three years left on his own contract and has not yet been the subject of any approach.

Cavani "too costly" for City.

Napoli claim Manchester City have pulled out of the race to sign Edinson Cavani over his asking price.
President Aurelio de Laurentiis, speaking at a news conference to officially unveil Rafael Benitez as the Serie A club's new manager, told reporters City were not prepared to meet a £54m buy-out clause for the highly-rated striker.
"Manchester City do not have money to pay for Cavani because they say we won't pay that," De Laurentiis said on Friday.
"Abu Dhabi (City's owners) say they would never pay 63m euros (£54m) for Cavani."
Real Madrid are leading the hunt for a player Chelsea also admire but though De Laurentiis revealed the Spanish giants have bid for the Uruguayan's services, he believes his exit is far from inevitable.
"At this time, Real Madrid are the only club who have made a firm offer for Cavani," De Laurentiis added.
"It is human, if Real Madrid call, to answer. He knows he has a clause and must decide.

Messi summons over Spain tax fraud

A Spanish judge has summoned Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi to appear in court on 17 September over tax fraud allegations.
The 25-year-old Argentine, who has four times been named World Player of the Year, and his father are accused of defrauding the Spanish authorities of more than 4m euros (£3.4m).
They are suspected of using companies abroad - in Belize and Uruguay - to sell the rights to use Messi's image.
They both deny the allegations.
Messi's net salary from Barcelona is said to be about 16m euros a year, making him one of the world's most highly-paid sportspeople.
He has also signed multi-million-dollar endorsements with commercial sponsors around the world.
The player and his father, Jorge, are accused of three times defrauding the Spanish state of taxes.
The income related to his image rights included contracts with Banco Sabadell, Danone, Adidas, Pepsi-Cola, Proctor and Gamble and the Kuwait Food Company.
If he is convicted, Messi could face up to six years in prison and a big fine, according to Spain's Efe news agency.
He wrote on his Facebook page, after the allegations became known last week: "We have never committed any infringement. We have always fulfilled all our tax obligations."
Messi's achievements on the field have made him one of the most marketable in the business.
He came from a modest background and has overcome a serious health issue, joining Barcelona as a 13-year-old in 2000 and making his first-team debut only three years later.
He was ranked 10th among Forbes' list of sports stars' incomes this month.

Confederations Cup

Here are the results of the Confederations Cup games in Group B:

Spain 10-0 Tahiti.

Fernando Torres scored four goals and David Villa grabbed three as Spain completed a resounding Fifa Confederations Cup win over Tahiti.
Chelsea's Torres beat Tahiti goalkeeper Mikael Roche and waltzed past Roche again after David Silva's finish.
Villa then scored either side of half-time before the Spanish forwards sealed their hat-tricks from crosses.
Juan Mata made it 8-0 and Torres ran in a fourth after missing a penalty before Silva pinched a second late on.
Spain are not assured of their place in the semi-final just yet but they look odds-on to reach the last four after this record win in the competition.
And although the scoreline marked the gulf in class between the two sides, Tahiti once again won new fans with their willingness to get on the scoresheet rather than defend in numbers.

How did Tahiti reach the Fifa Confederations Cup?

Tahiti qualified by becoming the first team other than Australia and New Zealand to win the Oceania Cup last June.

The defeat matched a record loss for the South Pacific islanders, who lost by the same scoreline against New Zealand in 2004, but their endeavour and undoubted class made this occasion far more than a straightforward thumping.
Torres's goal after five minutes, where he beat Roche at his near post after a one-two with Villa, looked like it might signify a goal rush but Tahiti's amateurs played with some distinction for the first half hour against the reigning world and European champions.
Coming after their historic goal in the 6-1 defeat by Nigeria in their Group B opener, Tahiti again employed a high defensive line.

Nigeria 1-2 Uruguay.

Diego Forlan marked his 100th cap with a stunning second-half winner in Salvador as Uruguay beat Nigeria in the Confederations Cup.
The 34-year-old, who had not scored in his previous 12 internationals, lit up the Arena Fonte Nova with a thunderous strike to see off the Super Eagles.
Diego Lugano had given Uruguay a scrappy first-half lead from close range, only for Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi to bring Nigeria level with a brilliantly taken goal shortly before the interval before Forlan's winner.
As Nigeria pressed for a second, Uruguay raced away on the counter attack and the former Manchester United striker thumped home a thunderous left-foot winner from 16 yards after a fluid break that involved Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

Forlan finds the target!

Diego Forlan
  • Forlan's goal was his 34th for Uruguay in 100 appearances
  • It was his first in 2013 and only his second since 2011
  • He scored five goals in 19 appearances for Brazilian side Internacional last season
The result ends Nigeria's 18-match unbeaten run, stretching back to May 2012, and leaves the Africa Cup of Nations champions facing a tough task in their final Group B match with Spain. The world and European champions top the group with six points, while Nigeria and Uruguay are level on three points.
Throughout the match, the deep rumblings, loud bags and the crackle of police weapons could be heard in the streets nearby. And yet on the field the battle raged on with both teams knowing the importance of victory to their chances of progressing to the semi-finals.
With Spain clear favourites for Group B and Tahiti obvious minnows, this contest was always going to be the most fiercely contested of the group - and so it proved.

Van Dijk seals Celtic move.

Celtic have completed the transfer of centre-back Virgil van Dijk from Dutch club FC Groningen.
The Holland U21 international, who arrived in Glasgow on Thursday for a medical, has agreed a four-year contract with the Hoops.
Van Dijk is Celtic's second signing this month, with striker Amido Balde also arriving from Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes.
A statement from Celtic read: "Celtic are delighted to announce that defender Virgil van Dijk has joined the club from FC Groningen.
"The Dutch Under-21 international has signed a four-year deal with the Scottish Champions, and he becomes the latest player to join Neil Lennon's squad during the close season following the arrival of striker Amido Balde from Portuguese side, Vitoria Guimaraes.
"Virgil van Dijk will be officially unveiled at Celtic Park this afternoon at 2.45pm."

Interest in Wanyama mounts.

Southampton and Cardiff City are ready to compete for the signature of Celtic star Victor Wanyama.
Sources in Scotland claim Celtic are ready to do business on the Kenyan midfielder - but they want in excess of £10million for the 21-year-old.
Celtic signed Wanyama from Belgian signed Beerschot in 2011 for £900,000 - a story broken by Sky Sports.
But after two highly successful years at Celtic Park, interest is high in Wanyama.
Sources have now confirmed to Sky Sports that Southampton and Cardiff - both with substantial transfer budgets - are willing to test Celtic's resolve, whilst Turkish giants Galatasaray also have an active interest.
Stoke, Newcastle and Liverpool are also reported to be monitoring the situation.

Confederations Cup

Here are the results of the Confederations Cup games in Group A:

Italy 4-3 Japan.

Italy completed a superb fightback to knock Japan out of the Confederations Cup and book their place in the semi-finals in a hugely entertaining game.
Japan went 2-0 up via Keisuke's Honda's penalty and Shinji Kagawa's strike.
But Italy responded in some style when Daniele De Rossi headed in before Atsuto Uchida's own goal and Mario Balotelli's penalty made it 3-2.
Japan equalised through Shinji Okazaki and also hit the woodwork, before Sebastian Giovinco sealed it for Italy.
Alberto Zaccheroni's Japan side could be justified in feeling the result in Recife was harsh on them.
Having surrendered a two-goal lead, then recovered from going behind to bring the scores level again after 69 minutes, they saw Okazaki and Kagawa hit post and bar respectively with eight minutes left.
So when Giovinco - a first-half substitute for Alberto Aquilani in an opening period dominated by Asia's champions - popped up to tuck in Claudio Marchisio's cross four minutes from time it was a crushing blow for the team that had showed the greater enterprise over 90 minutes.

Brazil 2-0 Mexico.

Neymar produced a commanding performance as Brazil secured their place in the Confederations Cup semi-finals with victory at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza.
This was not the dominant performance that some had expected but it was Brazil's first competitive victory over Mexico in nine years and a third successive win under head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
Neymar once again stole the show, scoring his second of the tournament after nine minutes with a fizzing volley and laying on a second for Jo to tap home in injury time, to keep Brazil top of Group A with six points, level on points with Italy, who are also through after beating Japan 4-3. The two sides play each other in their final group game to determine who finishes top.
Neymar
  • Neymar's goal was his 22nd in 25 games for Brazil. His late assist for Jo was his 14th for his country
  • The 21-year-old has equalled the amount of goals scored for Brazil by Jair (1940-1950) and Socrates (1979-1986)
Mexico, having been outplayed in the opening 15 minutes, fought hard and did create chances as the match wore on but never really tested Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar.
In this part of the world they talk of the jogo bonito - the beautiful game - and although there was evidence of it here, Brazil were far from convincing.
History had been against Mexico coming into the game, both in terms of their opponents and the venue. No team had beaten Brazil on more occasions than Mexico since the turn of the century, with El Tri coming out on top in six of the past seven competitive meetings between the sides.
Fortaleza too, held memories Brazil might rather forget. Their last home defeat had come here in 2002 against Paraguay. They did not want a repeat.

Transfer News

Carroll seals West Ham move.

England forward Andy Carroll has completed his permanent transfer to West Ham United for an undisclosed, club record fee.
The striker spent the duration of the 2012-13 campaign on loan with the Hammers, scoring seven goals in 24 appearances, and signed a six-year contract after passing a medical.
Carroll joined Liverpool from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day in January 2011 for a fee of around £35million after the Reds had allowed Fernando Torres to move to Chelsea for £50million.
He played 58 games for Anfield club in total, and scored 11 times, but was plagued by injuries before new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers allowed him to be loaned to the east London club.
Carroll, 24, who also suffered with hamstring injury at the Boleyn Ground, said: "It's fantastic for me to be here. I really enjoyed last season, and that shows in me coming back and making it permanent.

Villas-Boas: Bale is going nowhere.

Andre Villas-Boas has told a Spanish newspaper that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has given him his word that Gareth Bale will not be leaving the Premier League club.
Speculation has been rife since the season ended that the Welshman - both PFA and Football Writers' player of the year in 2013 - could be heading out of White Hart Lane.
A number of sides have shown an interest in the 23-year-old, most notably Spanish giants Real Madrid.
But Spurs manager Villas-Boas, speaking to Marca, said: "We have the pledge of the chairman that Bale is not going to leave the club."
Bale, who was the leading Tottenham player during 2012/13, scored 31 goals for club and country last season.
Real have not hidden their desire to sign Bale, with club ambassador Zinedine Zidane making a number of flattering comments about the Wales international.

Van Dijk wants Celtic move.

Holland Under-21 international Virgil van Dijk has confirmed his desire to seal a move to Celtic.
The Scottish champions are understood to have shown an interest in the FC Groningen defender, and the player is now hoping they push through with a deal.
Van Dijk had attracted interest from England, with newly promoted Cardiff City and Championship outfit Brighton both keen, however, the player seems to have his heart set on a move to Glasgow.
"Celtic is a fantastic club and a step up for me," he told De Telegraaf.
"I now have to wait until the clubs agree."

No offers for ace Fabregas.

Cesc Fabregas has reiterated that he has not received any offers from any clubs to tempt him away from Barcelona.
The former Arsenal man has been linked with a return to the Premier League following a difficult season with the Catalans last term, with Manchester United reported to be keen to take him to Old Trafford so he can join up with his former Gunners team-mate Robin van Persie.
But, during an interview with Movistar, Fabregas insisted: "People talk a lot but the truth is that no-one has spoken with me.
"I want to triumph in Barcelona, that club is my home and I always dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed there as long as I can."
Next year Fabregas will be playing alongside new signing Neymar, who joined Barcelona earlier this month.
The Spaniard believes the Brazilian has the capabilities to light up the Nou Camp but said he must be given time to bed in after moving club, league and country.
"Neymar will need time to adapt because he is coming from a completely different type of football from what he will find here. We need to help him settle in and grow so that he can give us great nights," said Fabregas.
He also dismissed talk that there could be a clash of egos between Neymar and Leo Messi.

Confederations Cup

Here is the results of the Confederations Cup games in groupB:
Spain 2-1 Uruguay.

Spain opened their Confederations Cup campaign in style as the world and European champions outclassed Uruguay in Recife.
Former Arsenal player Cesc Fabregas had already hit a post when Pedro's 22-yard attempt was deflected off Uruguay defender Diego Lugano into the net.
Roberto Soldado doubled the lead from just inside the area after a clever pass by Fabregas before the interval.
Uruguay scored a consolation through Luis Suarez's fine 30-yard free-kick.
But had Uruguay snatched a dramatic equaliser it would have been unfair on Spain, who produced a typically dominant performance in Brazil.
For large periods of the match the South Americans were reduced to chasing shadows but when they did have the ball they were swiftly closed down by their ruthless opponents.
Three years after suffering their last tournament defeat - a 1-0 loss to Switzerland in the group stage at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa - Vicente del Bosque's side showed why they are the team to beat 12 months before they are due to defend their world title.

Tahiti 1-6 Nigeria.

South Pacific islanders Tahiti scored a historic goal in their Confederations Cup debut, which ended in a respectable defeat by African champions Nigeria.
Tahiti's team of amateurs, ranked 138th in the world and competing in their first major tournament, scored when Jonathan Tehau headed in from a corner.

The Tehau clan

Jonathan Tehau
Tahiti defender Jonathan Tehau is the first man to score at both ends in a Confederations Cup match. His younger brother Alvin played up front v Nigeria, while two other members of the family were on the bench.

At that stage they were 3-0 down after an own goal from captain Nicolas Vallar and two efforts from Nnamdi Oduamadi.
Tehau scored an own goal before strikes from Oduamadi and Uwa Echiejile.
Nigeria, ranked 31st in the Fifa world rankings, wasted a series of chances to make the scoreline more damaging for Tahiti and a string of defensive errors ultimately proved costly for the outsiders.
But coach Eddy Etaeta, who had feared his side "would not give a very good image of Tahitian football", would have been delighted that his adventurous side registered a goal in their opening match in Brazil.
And after the match he said: "I was deeply moved, almost crying. We watch World Cups on TV. Today we were actors. Tahiti was watching. Our President sent us a message and suspended a cabinet meeting for it."
The 25-year-old Tehau, oldest of three brothers and one cousin in the squad, seized his moment in the 54th minute when he beat Celtic defender Efe Ambrose in the air to nod home a corner at the back post.

Dutch teenagers jailed.

Members of SC Buitenboys lay roses on the hearse carrying Richard Nieuwenhuizen
Members of SC Buitenboys lay roses on the hearse carrying Richard Nieuwenhuizen

Six teenage boys and a father have been jailed for up to six years in Holland for beating an amateur football linesman to death last year.
The death of Richard Nieuwenhuizen, 41, shocked Holland and the football world.
"The seven suspects are guilty of hitting the linesman's head and upper body," said judge Anja van Holten, finding an eighth suspect innocent of the killing.
Judges in Lelystad sentenced the 50-year-old father to six years in prison. Five teenage players were given two-year sentences in youth detention for their roles in the attack and another was sentenced to a year.
A seventh player, age 15, was sentenced to 30 days detention for assault.
The fatal attack took place on December 2 last year in the city of Almere, after the home team Buitenboys drew 2-2 with Nieuw Sloten from Amsterdam.
Nieuwenhuizen collapsed after the attack and was taken to hospital where he fell into a coma. He died the following day.
After the attack FIFA president Sepp Blatter said: "Football is a mirror of society and sadly, the same ills that afflict society - in this case violence - also manifest themselves in our game.
"Nevertheless, I remain convinced that football - through the example set by the tireless efforts of people like Mr. Nieuwenhuizen - is a force for good, and we must continue to use its positive example to educate people against these wrongs."

City and Real make Isco bids.

The Spain Under-21 international had already confirmed that he had a decision to make over his future, and has now moved to confirm the identity of the suitors.
Isco has had an impressive season at Malaga, scoring nine league goals and helping his side qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
"It is true that I already know Pellegrini. I know how he works and he has been fundamental in my career."
Isco
His club form has also recently been reflected on the international stage, with the attacking midfielder one of the stand-out players at the European Under-21 Championship in Israel, with Spain through to Tuesday's final.
"There are two propositions on the table," Isco said: "I hope to decide soon because I still have a contract with Malaga.
"I know that both Manchester City and Real Madrid are great clubs. I want that whatever happens will be the best for me and Malaga."

Hull complete Figueroa signing.

Figueroa was first brought to England by Hull manager Steve Bruce when he was in charge of Wigan back in January 2008 from Deportivo Olimpia for £500,000.
The 30-year-old, who has 95 international caps, made 200 appearances for the Latics, scoring six goals, but missed out on the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City due to a groin injury.
He is Hull's second signing of the summer following George Boyd, whose loan
move from Peterborough was made permanent last month.
Figueroa will join up with his new Tigers team-mates when they return for pre-season training in early July ahead of their Premier League return and he said: "I'm happy to be here and to be a part of the club.
"It is a big challenge for me, but it's certainly one I'm looking forward to. When the team were playing the final few games in the Championship, I paid close attention to the results because I wanted Steve Bruce to achieve promotion.
"I was happy for him to earn the success. He is a great manager, and I'm looking forward to working with him again."

Confederations Cup

Here is the result of the Confederations Cup game in groupA:
Mexico 1-2 Italy.

Mario Balotelli stole the show in Rio, as he crashed in a second-half winner to ensure Italy marked Andrea Pirlo's 100th cap with victory at the Maracana.
The AC Milan striker fought his way into the penalty area and produced a fierce low shot to give the Azzurri their first win over Mexico since 1993 and, with it, the perfect start to their Confederations Cup campaign.
Pirlo himself had given Italy the lead midway through the first half with a trademark free-kick, only for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez to bring Mexico level from the penalty spot.
Victory leaves Italy level on points with hosts Brazil at the top of Group A, with Japan next up on Wednesday. Mexico play Brazil on the same day.

Confederations Cup: Andrea Pirlo scores a 'perfect' free-kick for Italy

Pirlo's free-kick was a magical moment and Italy remain unbeaten in the 12 matches in which the Juventus midfielder has scored. But as far as the Brazilian public was concerned the night belonged to Balotelli.
The former Manchester City striker had cut a frustrated figure for long periods of the match, having missed a series of early chances and been dumped on his backside by a series of heavy second-half challenges. There were even glimpses of that famous temper but, ultimately, he was not to be denied.
A balmy night at the Maracana witnessed a game packed full of attacking football - and the locals loved it. On both sides, the passing was fluid and the sense of adventure obvious.
From the outset Italy's attacking play looked elegant and effortless with three chances falling to Balotelli in the opening eight minutes.Gerardo Torrado and Francisco Rodriguez continually looked stretched at the heart of the Mexican defence, as Balotelli chipped one chance over and fired two more into the arms of goalkeeper Jose Corona. But there was defensive uncertainty from the Italians too.

In the end Italy came out on top with a dazzling performance from both Pirlo and Balotelli, and Mexico were just "unlucky". They never gave up hope and fought till the end.

After that match this is how groupA is shaping up:

1 Brazil 1 3
2 Italy 1 3

Transfer News

Liverpool hold Mignolet talks.

It is believed the Belgium international will not sign a new contract at the Stadium of Light and wants to leave in order to boost his 2014 World Cup ambitions.
Liverpool could be in need of a goalkeeper given that speculation continues to link their current No.1, Jose Reina, with Barcelona.
Sunderland, though, will not be keen to sell Mignolet, who was their Player of the Year in the 2012/13 season.
But the 25-year-old, who has also been linked with Arsenal, has only two years remaining on his contract and Sunderland will know his value will decrease as time drags on.
However, the North East club would still want at least £9m from Liverpool, who have also been linked with Stoke City's Asmir Begovic.

Zidane urges Bale departure.

The Welshman has been linked with a big-money switch this summer after a sparkling Premier League campaign when he was crowned Player of the Year.
Real Madrid are interested in signing Bale and Zidane, sporting director at the Santiago Bernabeu, has reiterated that they would not be afraid to spend heavily to secure his services.
But the Frenchman also thinks that Bale could speed up the process by speaking to his club bosses and requesting a departure.
"I think Real Madrid have made their admiration of Gareth Bale very clear - and it has been made clear that we would not be put off by the cost of the player," Zidane told the Sunday People.
"But if Gareth feels now is the time to move then he has to have a private discussion with his club and express that he wants to leave."
Tottenham's failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League increased the speculation about Bale's future and his agent recently refused to rule out a move to Spain.

Confederations Cup result

The Confederations Cup is under way in Brazil, and the hosts were off to a winning start:
Brazil 3-0 Japan.

Neymar's spectacular third-minute goal set hosts Brazil on their way to a comfortable victory over Japan in the opening game of the Confederations Cup.

The Barcelona striker met Fred's knockdown on the edge of the area with a blistering shot into the top corner.

Neymar
Neymar scores superb opening goal

Paulinho made it 2-0 from a Dani Alves cross and Oscar sent Jo running clear to add a third goal in injury time.
The game was the first international match to use goal-line technology, but it was not needed for any decisions.
With less than a year to go until Brazil hosts the World Cup finals, this is a tournament that will act as a dress rehearsal for the South Americans - on and off the pitch.
The nation's infrastructure will be under scrutiny over the next two weeks but at the revamped Estadio Nacional in Brasilia, one of the stadia for 2014, the only work in progress of interest was Brazil's team.
Going into their first competitive fixture in 23 months, Luis Felipe Scolari's side had won just two of their previous nine games, and desperately needed a positive performance in front of a demanding home crowd.
So Neymar's superbly-taken goal, after only two minutes and 53 seconds, did much to lift the pressure on him and his team-mates.

Pellegrini appointed as Man City manager.

The 59-year-old Chilean will replace Roberto Mancini in the Etihad Stadium hotseat from June 24 after leaving Spanish club Malaga.
"Everything is in place for Manchester City to continue to be successful and I am excited to be able to work with such a talented squad."
Manuel Pellegrini
Pellegrini, who has also coached at Real Madrid and Villarreal, told City's official website: "I am delighted to accept this hugely exciting opportunity.
"The club has a clear vision for success both on and off the pitch and I am committed to making a significant contribution.
"Everything is in place for Manchester City to continue to be successful and I am excited to be able to work with such a talented squad, the executive team and the board to deliver for fans who are renowned for their steadfast support."
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "Manuel is a hugely experienced and successful manager with a proven track record.
"We have been greatly impressed throughout the selection process by his philosophy, his attitude and his commitment to the long-term development of Manchester City. I am delighted that he has joined us."

Marseille eye Gervinho swoop.

The 26-year-old has failed to make much of an impact since his move from Lille back in 2011, and has bore the brunt of the fans' frustrations this season.
However, that has not deterred Marseille, who will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, and assistant boss Franck Passi believes Gervinho will improve their squad.
"This is a profile that interests us, yes," Passi told the London Evening Standard.
"We want flank players, with dribbling, passing and scoring and Gervinho has this profile."

City complete Navas move.

Navas, 27, underwent a successful medical in New York where he is currently with the Spain squad.
Navas was a one-club man - he has spent the last 10 years with Sevilla, making 393 appearances and scoring 34 goals.
Ahead of Spain's friendly with Ireland, Navas has won 23 Spain caps and was part of the squad which won the World Cup and European Championships.
Navas told the club website: "Manchester City is an exciting project and this is the right moment for me to take this step. I'm very happy with the opportunity and the decision.

Chelsea confirm Schurrle deal.

There were fears Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge could affect a transfer which has beeen lined up for weeks.
But a statement on the Chelsea website confirmed the deal will go through subject to Schurrle passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
The statement read: "Chelsea Football Club and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of André Schürrle, subject to the completion of legal documentation and related matters, including personal terms and passing a medical."
The 22-year-old will officially go down as the first signing of Mourinho's second spell as manager.

Fabregas wants Barcelona stay.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder is being strongly linked with a move back to England, with his former club and Manchester United said to be very keen.
Fabregas has enjoyed two good seasons in the Catalan capital since his return to his hometown club in 2011, scoring 20 goals in 60 league starts for Barca.
"Barca is my home, I have always dreamed of triumphing here"
Cesc Fabregas
However, with the recent signing of Neymar, it has been suggested that Fabregas could find himself sidelined.
But the 26-year-old has seemingly given little encouragement to his English suitors.

Suarez keen on Liverpool exit.

The Uruguay star is currently in South America preparing for the Confederations Cup, having already revealed he wants to quit Anfield this summer.
Liverpool insist Suarez, who is serving a 10-game ban from domestic football after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, is not for sale but the player believes the treatment he receives in the press leaves him with no alternative.

"Liverpool is a club that I dreamt about playing for as a boy. I have been with great players there, they know me and I would love to continue for many more years at Liverpool. The stadium is spectacular, the fans are phenomenal: people with tattoos of me, things that I could never have imagined."  Luis Suarez

"Ever since I arrived I have felt bad, they have never judged me for my play but with the attitude that he dives, protests, makes gestures, racism... everything," Suarez told television show RR Gol.

World Cup Qualifiers

Here are the results of some of the World Cup 2014 Qualifiers:
Rep.Of Ireland 3-0 Faroe Islands.

Robbie Keane marked his record 126th cap for the Republic of Ireland by hitting a hat-trick in the World Cup qualifying win over the Faroe Islands.
Keane, 32, fired in an early opener from Aiden McGeady's cross before he wasted a clear opening as the minnows frustrated the dominant hosts.
Seamus Coleman provided the cross for Keane to slot home the second goal 10 minutes into the second half.
Keane then netted from close range to complete a memorable treble in Dublin.
It was a perfect start for the Republic and Keane, who passed Shay Given to become the country's most capped player.
McGeady sent in a low cross and the LA Galaxy striker neatly stroked the ball beyond keeper Gunnar Nielsen and into the bottom corner after just five minutes.
The Republic were stifled for the remainder of the first half as the visitors packed their defence in a simple gameplan of damage limitation.
Keane was guilty of poor finishing on 26 minutes, a well-worked free-kick putting the skipper clear on goal but he hesitated before a weak shot was saved by Nielsen.
Nielsen also tipped over a powerful volley from Keane and kept out efforts from Jonathan Walters and the impressive McGeady.
Wes Hoolahan, who was making his first start for the Republic at the age of 31, headed over from a McGeady cross three minutes after the restart.
The Norwich midfielder started the move for the first goal and he was again involved as the Irish doubled their lead after 55 minutes.
Hoolahan's pinpoint pass put Seamus Coleman through on the right and the full-back's first-time cross was slid in by the alert Keane.
The Faroes created a rare threat on goal when Atli Gregersen's header from a free-kick landed on the roof of the net.
Keane chalked up a 59th international goal as he completed his hat-trick on 80 minutes with a simple side-foot finish past Nielsen from substitute Conor Sammon's lay-off.

Croatia 0-1 Scotland.

Scotland gave their best performance in several years to beat the world's fourth best team on their own turf.
It was a display full of self-belief, guts and quality from Gordon Strachan's men to record their first win of the World Cup qualifying campaign.
Robert Snodgrass scored the crucial goal, latching onto a loose ball to prod it past Stipe Pletikosa.
Croatia pressed for an equaliser, but failed to bring out a save of any note from Allan McGregor.
The contrast between this Scots performance and those that have preceded it was remarkable, with Russell Martin, James McArthur and Alan Hutton perhaps the pick of a heroic bunch.
Of course, it comes much too late to make any impact in the group, but it ensures Scotland will be in pot four for the draw for Euro 2016 and gives the Scotland management team something concrete to build on for the future.
They set the tone in the opening stages with some confident passing and dogged closing-down to ensure the Croatians were unable to seriously threaten McGregor's goal.
The same could be said of Pletikosa - the home keeper barely touching the ball before his side found themselves a goal down after 26 minutes.
The goal had a touch of fortune about it, but Scotland will feel they were rewarded for their endeavour, as Shaun Maloney's attempted pass broke off a Croatian leg and the ball fell kindly for Snodgrass, who stretched to nudge it past Pletikosa.
The keeper took an accidental boot in the face as Snodgrass beat him to the ball and required lengthy treatment before continuing, but he was rattled, much like the rest of his team-mates.

Hulk confirms Chelsea interest.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly made a £35million move for the Zenit St Petersburg star but the Russian club are said to want closer to the almost £50m they paid Porto in 2012.
Mourinho, who returned as Chelsea manager this week, is also thought to be close to a deal for Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle.
However, Hulk could be another man on the Stamford Bridge club's list of targets and the player has always appeared keen on a move to the Premier League.
Hulk is currently getting ready for the Confederations Cup with Brazil but, amid the speculation of Chelsea's bid, he is quoted as saying by Globo Esporte: "If I said there was not anything in it, I would be lying.

Fellaini linked to Arsenal.

The online bookmaker reported a flurry of stakes amid media reports that the Gunners had activated a £24million release clause in the Belgium international's contract.
Manchester United were considered Fellaini's most likely suitors after David Moyes took over but moving to the Emirates is now considered most likely after Arsenal were backed in from 16/1 to 6/4.
Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "Arsenal have been backed to sign various different players over the summer as Arsene Wenger looks to make use of a healthy transfer kitty.
"But it was somewhat of a surprise to see such significant stakes on them to sign Fellaini.
"The towering midfielder does not seem to fit in with their footballing ethos but our punters certainly seem convinced a deal could happen."

Martinez the man.

Martinez, 39, led Wigan to a memorable FA Cup final triumph last month and despite failing to save them from relegation to the Championship, he emerged as the outright first choice of Everton chairman Bill Kenwright from a three-man shortlist believed to also include Porto's Vitor Pereira and former Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick.
Kenwright made an official approach on May 24 and four days later Martinez told Wigan chairman Dave Whelan he wanted to leave.
The two clubs agreed a compensation package believed to be £1.5m earlier this week.

Ribery set to sign Bayern deal.

Ribery, 30, joined the Bundesliga champions in 2007, and his current deal will expire in summer 2015.
The winger played a key role in Bayern's historic treble-winning season, where they became the first German side to win the DFB-Pokal trophy as well as the national and European titles.
With Pep Guardiola replacing Jupp Heynkes as Bayern's manager this summer, Ribery has committed his future to the club and wants to end his career at the Allianz Arena.
"We have discussed it all," said Ribery. "And saying 'yes' means 'yes' to me. We would not really need a player (to sign on).
"But I know we have to sign and this will happen as soon as possible, although there is no use to feeling like being in a rush.

International football

Here are the results of the International friendlies that were played yesterday on the 2nd of June 2013:

Rep.Of Ireland 4-0 Georgia.

Keane, Richard Keogh and Simon Cox were all on target for Giovanni Trapattoni's side, who were some distance below the performance they produced in Wednesday's draw with England at Wembley.
Keane equalled Given's all-time appearance tally for Ireland when he was introduced at the interval as Ireland warmed up for Friday's World Cup qualifier with the Faroe Islands with a comfortable victory over limited opponents who saw goalkeeper Giorgi Loria dismissed in the 20th minute.
Ireland captain Shane Long had already demonstrated a clean pair of heels to the Georgia defence when he burst clear in the 15th minute but could not beat Loria with his flicked effort when one-on-one.
The visitors were complicit in their own downfall in the 20th minute when Ucha Lobjanidze's hopeless attempted backpass sent Long clear again and he lifted the ball beyond Loria before being cynically brought down on the edge of the box with a red card the only possible outcome.

Brazil 2-2 England.

The Arsenal youngster, whose father Mark featured in the iconic stadium 29 years ago when John Barnes scored one of the finest goals in England's history to secure a 2-0 victory, stepped off the bench to fire home a superb equaliser before Rooney found the top corner 11 minutes from time.
Despite being outclassed for the entire first half, England were on the brink of a memorable victory, only for Luiz Felipe Scolari's men to have the final say through Paulinho's volleyed leveller in the 82nd minute.
Sunday night's meeting with the 2014 World Cup hosts demonstrated at times how much work there is to do for England before next summer's tournament, with only Joe Hart's first-half heroics keeping the game goalless until Fred finally struck in the 57th minute.
England were under the cosh from the off, with Hart's first sprawling save coming in the 18th minute when Glen Johnson misjudged a deep cross-field ball, presenting Neymar with a good chance to break the deadlock.
As the half-hour approached, Barcelona's latest signing played in Hulk with a deft pass only for Hart to deny the powerful striker before getting to the ball twice ahead of Filipe Luis as he looked to make the most of the rebounds.

De Gea plans Atletico return.

De Gea is one of the elder members of the Spain Under-21s squad readying themselves for a shot at European Championship glory and he has been looking back on a successful season for his former club, including their Copa del Rey victory over Real Madrid.
Speaking to AS, De Gea said: "To win at Madrid's Bernabeu in a final, I cannot ask for anything more because they also have qualified for the Champions and have made a great season. Hopefully in the future I can return, you never know. It has been and will always be my home."
De Gea will return to Carrington to start pre-season with United next month and says that it will be strange without Sir Alex Ferguson at the club. De Gea added: "Obviously there will be a change, he was the coach for many years, many titles and many joys. Now comes a new coach I think it will continue in the same line of Sir Alex and dynamics will be similar.

Mourinho claims he will be named Chelsea manager this week.

The Portuguese coach rounded off his three-year reign at Real Madrid with a 4-2 victory over Osasuna on Saturday, having already confirmed he would be leaving Spain at the end of the season.
And in an interview with TV football show Punto Pelota, Mourinho insisted his return to Stamford Bridge will be made official within the next few days.
"I'm going to London on Monday and at the end of the week I will be the manager of Chelsea," he said. "I feel the people there love me and in life you have to look for that.

"Life is beautiful and short and you must look for what you think is best for you."
The 50-year-old led Chelsea to back-to-back Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006 before departing in 2007 after reported disagreements with owner Roman Abramovich over transfer budgets.
